Sometimes the sophisticated richness of dark chocolate or the decadence of a truffle is not what you're looking for - sometimes you can't beat the sweetness and texture of a good old fashioned chocolate bar. Here are some of the top ten chocolate bars.

This top ten list is for chocolate bars sold in the United States. Chocolate bars sold throughout the world vary, but these ones belong to a few chocolate bar companies in the US. This list fluctuates over the years but these chocolate bars have been in the top ten (or close to it) for years. As tastes change a chocolate bar may go up a spot or down one, but the classic combinations of chocolate and candy in these chocolate bars gives them staying power in the top ten chocolate bar list.

Number Ten: Hershey Bar

This bar is considered the "Great American Chocolate Bar". It's one of the oldest chocolate bar brands in the US that can still be eaten today.

Number Nine: Oh Henry

Made of peanuts, caramel, fudge, and covered with chocolate, this classic bar was named after a boy who regularly visited the Williamson Candy Company in 1921.

Number 8: M&Ms

Short for M&Ms Plain Chocolate, this candy coated treat comes in at number 8.

Number 7: Baby Ruth

At number 7, the Baby Ruth was created in 1920 and named after the daughter of President Cleveland, not Babe Ruth the baseball player, a common misconception.

Number 6: Milky Way

The chocolate in this bar tastes like malted milk.

Number 5: 3 Musketeers

Made of chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry nougat, this chocolate bar comes in at number 5.

Number 4: Butterfinger

This bar is made of butter, peanut butter, and chocolate. It's rich and crispy, and delicious!

Number 3: Kit Kat

This bar used to be known as Rowntree's Chocolate Crisp. It is made of then bars of wafer, covered with chocolate.

Number 2: Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.

Chocolate and Peanut butter! There are ads that say you can't make this at home with peanut butter and chocolate. I find that peanut butter cookie dough tastes pretty much like the center of a Reese Peanut butter cup. You might want to leave out the egg though!

The best selling chocolate bar of all time - named after the Mars family's horse - was introduced in 1930.
